The Rikhiram legacy has been continued by Sanay Sharma, son of Pt.Bishan Dass. Sanjay’s childhood has been surrounded by music and musical instruments. He has been in contact with all famous musicians who were with his father as well.
Late Pt. Bishan Dass followed in the footsteps of his father, Pt Rikhiram, and started learning sitar at a very tender age under the guidance and supervision of his father. Later, he became a disciple of world renowed sitar maestro Pt. Ravi Shankar. He also worked in the maintainance cell of A.I.R.
Continuing with the craft of instrument making, he carried out many acoustic experiments. Besides Indian Masters, He was also visited by famous musiciamns from the world over.
George Harrison, a.k.a of the Beetles, received his first lesson in the sitar by Bishan Dass. He taught George the basics of sitar, the position & the manner in which to sit and hold the sitar.
Pt. Rikhiram was a great musician, and one of the best known Musical Instrument creators in post independent India, He had a vision to create Instrument that are unique and perfect.. His strength was Innovation-with Perfection, which one can feel with any of the Rikhiram Instruments.
